During their 11-year run, Marvel Cinematic Universe superheroes often appeared alongside high-end vehicles, with Iron Man – Tony Stark being the most prominent.
The Audi R8 has become synonymous with the superhero Iron Man, thanks to its appearance in the Marvel movies. The sleek and powerful car fits perfectly with Tony Stark’s persona and has become a fan favorite. With its advanced technology, speed, and iconic design, the Audi R8 is a true masterpiece of engineering. It’s no wonder that it has captured the hearts of many both on and off the big screen.
The Audi R8 is the car that accompanied Tony Stark in the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Iron Man, which was released in 2008. This sports car boasts a V8 4.2L engine that can generate a power output of 420 horsepower. There is also an Audi R8 Spyder version that appeared in Iron Man 2.
Following the first installment, Iron Man 2 continues its collaboration with Audi, but this time featuring a convertible R8 model. Another iconic vehicle that appears in the movie is the 1932 Ford Flathead Roadster.
Apart from the R8 Spyder, there is also a classic 1932 Ford Flathead Roadster parked in Stark’s garage. We can also spot the Rolls-Royce Phantom in Iron Man and Iron Man 2.
Alongside the high-speed supercars, a luxury vehicle is an essential mode of transportation for a billionaire like Tony Stark. In part 1, Stark destroys two 2004 Rolls-Royce Phantoms and replaces them with a 2009 model in part 2. In part 2, a convertible Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe also makes a brief appearance. The Audi R8 e-tron is featured in Iron Man 3 as well.
The third installment of the Iron Man movie series was undoubtedly the most successful, raking in over 1 billion USD in revenue. Once again, Tony Stark cruises around in his trusty Audi R8, but this time it’s the electric e-tron version. In one scene, the Bugatti Veyron Supersport also makes a brief appearance as a supercar. Moving on to The Avengers film, the Acura NSX steals the show with its sleek design and impressive performance.
In 2012, the Avengers blockbuster marked the first collaboration between Iron Man and other superheroes like Captain America, Hawkeye, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk. Alongside the Audi R8 was also the supercar Acura NSX. At that time, the car was only a prototype version, and it wasn’t until 2017 that the commercial version was released. The Audi R8 V10 Plus definitely added to the excitement of the film!
The Audi R8 has made appearances alongside Tony Stark in both The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. This second-generation R8 V10 Plus boasts a 5.2L V10 engine. The Audi TTS also made an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
In a scene where Peter Parker needs a car to chase after his enemy, an Audi TTS makes an appearance. Even though it’s not considered a supercar, the Audi TTS is still noteworthy because it shares a similarity with Spider-Man in being small but quick. On the other hand, Doctor Strange’s vehicle of choice is a Lamborghini Huracan.
In the opening scene of the movie, Doctor Strange finds himself in a serious accident with his Lamborghini Huracan due to his distraction while reviewing medical records. Little did he know that this incident would lead him to meet Ancient One and gain the ultimate power. Speaking of powerful cars, the Lexus LC was prominently featured as the car of choice for the superhero Black Panther.
The luxurious Lexus coupe made its appearance in the blockbuster movie Black Panther alongside T’Challa. Interestingly, T’Challa’s sister remotely operated the Lexus LC in the film. On the other hand, the Audi e-tron GT Concept made its debut in Avengers: Endgame.
There have been rumors that Endgame will be the last film featuring Iron Man. Prior to the release of the movie, Robert Downey Jr. hinted at the appearance of the Audi e-tron GT Concept electric car. This could also be the last Audi driven by Tony Stark in the film.
